In July, Stephanie Hagwood of Clark Gas & Oil spearheaded a companywide yard sale. It was a major success and she wanted the proceeds to benefit the community as a whole.
Being the mother of two young children, Hagwood reached out to DeHart Park with a proposal from Clark Gas & Oil to enhance the playground area.
Stuart’s Park and Recreation Association board members were supportive of the offer, and the yard sale proceeds went to purchase a new piece of equipment called the Shadow Play Sky Runner.
The Sky Runner was installed a few weeks ago.
“We enjoy family time together and making memories at the park,” Hagwood said. “It’s also great to see so many community members appreciating and using all the amenities.”
The Sky Runner is an overhead spinning activity that simulates flight. Up to eight children can grip the handle, run, and lift their feet to spin around and around.
It has vibrant panels that catch the sun’s rays to cast colorful shadows along the ground.
“We spent this spring revamping much of the existing playground equipment and relocating it to a more centralized location. This was perfect timing for us to integrate a new piece of equipment,” said Rusty Smith, Grounds Committee Chairman for Stuart Parks and Recreation.
“We cannot thank all of the Clark Gas & Oil employees enough. Community partnerships, like this one, have incredibly strengthened DeHart Park and we are truly appreciative.”
DeHart Park is located at 212 Wood Brothers Drive in Stuart. It features a swimming pool, three ball fields, two tennis courts, a basketball court, a newly extended walking trail, three picnic shelters, a hospice garden, and a playground.
