The Library of Virginia announced that the Circuit Court Records Preservation (CCRP) program has awarded Patrick County Circuit Court Clerk, Morgan Boothe a $42,397 grant for local records preservation. The funds were used to conserve Deed Book 14, 1851-1854; Marriage Records 1-460, 1791-1853; 461-650, 1791-1853; 651-802, 1791-1853; 803-978, 1791-1853; 979-1126, 1791-1853 stored in her office.
“These records are history on paper, so it’s very important to make sure they’re taken care of. I’m thankful to the Library of Virginia for establishing and approving our grant application, and for KOFILE for always doing a great job with the records,” said Boothe.
Since 1990, the CCRP has awarded over 2,000 grants totaling more than $35,000,000. This year, the program awarded $3.2 million to 101 localities to assist the clerks’ offices with their preservation efforts.
The CCRP is a collaborative program between the Library of Virginia and the Virginia Court Clerks Association (VCCA). Funded through a $3.50 portion of the clerk’s recordation fee, the CCRP provides resources to help preserve and make accessible permanent circuit court records stored in the 120 circuit courts and at the Library of Virginia.
