The Green Team, an effort by the Rotary Club of Stuart, is organizing a county-wide litter pick-up on Saturday, March 23.
The team is looking for local organizations, individuals, clubs and friends to join together and clean up our roadways. Volunteers are asked to bag litter throughout the day. Securely tied bags may be left on the side of the road for collection by the Virginia Department of Transportation.
The team promotes safety during your cleanup efforts. Whenever possible, work on the left side of the road facing oncoming traffic; pair an adult with a child; wear gloves, sturdy shoes and suitable clothing. Have basic first aid supplies, access to drinking water, and snacks.
All efforts are appreciated and all litter removed from Patrick County is a plus to help make our communities sparkle. When the project is complete, groups should contact Wayne Kirkpatrick wynbtyk@embarqmail.com or Harold Edwards hfe8903@gmail.com with information about the location of the bags.
Please share your clean-up stories and photos on our Facebook page and use the hashtag #loveitdonttrashit and #pcva. We would love to hear from you.
Everyone who participates in this event is invited to enter to win a $500 award to be donated in their name to a local non-profit of their choice. The winner will also receive a gift basket donated by Patrick County Tourism. Follow this link to enter https://bit.ly/2Em6uDr .
