A recruitment/registration fair for STEP’s Head Start and Early Head Start programs will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, March 10, at the STEP (Solutions That Empower People) building at 4559 Wayside Road in Stuart.
The event is an opportunity for both new and returning families to register children for the 2017-2018 school year.
Head Start (HS) and Early Head Start (EHS) are comprehensive education, health and nutrition programs specifically designed to help parents prepare their children for school in Franklin and Patrick counties.
The programs are designed to foster the healthy development of children from low-income families. STEP classrooms also provide the opportunity for the social, emotional, and intellectual growth along with health screenings, medical and dental support services.
In order to register their children, parents must bring the following records: birth certificate, proof of address, recent income source, social security number, insurance information, and immunization records.
Benefits provided by Head Start/Early Head Start include developmental screenings, nutritious meals, educational activities, health screenings, family support services, and family engagement opportunities.
STEP’s Head Start staff is fully qualified. Services are offered to all low-income families for no fees, including services for special needs children. Home-based services are available to pregnant mothers and children up to age 3, as well as classroom settings for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
