Susan Rayna Hedgecock of Stuart and Sherman Lee Boothe II of Roanoke were married Saturday, April 8 at two o’clock in the afternoon at Smith River Church of the Brethren in Woolwine by Pastor Danny Gilley.
The bride is the daughter of the late Oscar Raymond Hedgecock and the late Marie Johnson Hedgecock Hopkins.
The bridegroom is the son of Sherman Lee Boothe of Vinton and the late Elizabeth Adams Boothe.
The bride was escorted by and given in marriage by her son, Ivan Byers. She wore a strapless, trumpet-style gown of satin, organza, and tulle. The gown featured a sweetheart neckline, lace appliqués, and was adorned with various shaped pearls, clear beads, and clear sequins. She wore a two-tiered finger-tip length tulle veil. The bride carried a bouquet of purple and lavender roses with white hydrangeas.
The bridegroom wore a black tuxedo and a white rose boutonniere.
The couple exchanged vows in a double ring ceremony. The church was decorated with vases of purple roses, baskets of spring flowers, heart-shaped candelabras, white pew bows, and purple candles with bows in the Windows.
Ushers were Randy Hedgecock and Ronny Hedgecock, brothers of the bride. The guest registry was attended by Marie Wood Davis. Pianist was Betty Jane Holt.
The couple had a reception in the church fellowship hall following the ceremony. The fellowship hall was decorated with baskets of purple, lavender, and white roses. Centerpieces and votive candles were on the tables. They had a white, three-tier cake decorated with purple butterflies and trimmed in lavender and purple. The cake was made by Becky Puckett, niece of the bride.
The reception was catered by Rachel Hedgecock, niece of the bride. Church and reception decorations, floral arrangements, corsages, and boutonnieres were done by Jeannie Hedgecock, sister-in-law of the bride.
Following a honeymoon, the couple now reside in Stuart.
The bride is a 1988 graduate of Patrick County High School, a 1991 and 1994 graduate of Patrick Henry Community College. She is employed by Robert’s Market and Lighthouse Grill.
The bridegroom is a 1984 graduate of Patrick Henry High School. He is employed by Caviness Trucking and Auto Services.
