Hertha D. Hetrick, 84, of New Oxford, Pa., died Sunday, February 14, 2016, at the York Hospital.
Born June 8, 1931 in Patrick County, she was the daughter of the late Luther E. and Susie V. Conner Slaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Kenneth E. Hetrick, on July 21, 2005; brothers; Wayne A. Slaughter, Wacho Slaughter, Lestelle E. Slaughter and Waitman L. Slaughter; and sisters, Pauline Martin, Edgena C. Goard and Juanita M. Cline.
She was employed for several years with Aero Energy of New Oxford.
She was a member of Hanover Church of the Brethren where she was active in the Women’s Fellowship Group. She also was involved with the bereavement committee and along with her husband, served as a long time deacon. She donated much of her time volunteering with the local PAL Lunch Program.
Surviving are her brother, Eldred G. Slaughter of Staunton; her sister, M. Blondell Wright of Collinsville.; five nephews; and nine nieces.
A funeral service was held Friday at the Hanover Church of the Brethren in Hanover, Pa., with the Rev. Geraldine Godfrey officiating. Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hanover Church of the Brethren, 601 Wilson Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331.
Arrangements were by the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.kenworthyfh.com.
