On Wednesday, Feb. 1 at noon, the Reynolds Homestead will host Blacksburg businessman and author Michael Abraham for its bi-monthly History Around Us program.
Co-sponsored by the Patrick County Historical Society, the events bring local history to life.
Abraham is the author of eight books, fiction and non-fiction, all with a local interest in Virginia and West Virginia. His latest book, “Chasing the Powhatan Arrow,” covers the train route followed by the Powhatan Arrow across Virginia, West Virginia and Ohio.
Abraham duplicates the trip, traveling by car, motorcycle, bicycle and canoe – exploring the communities and changes, good and bad, that have occurred over the decades.
Abraham is known as a fascinating storyteller and entertaining speaker. He will have books for sale, including “Keepers of the Tradition,” a non-fiction compilation of stories and portraits of contemporary Appalachians, including local quilter Pam Puckett Frazier.
The program is free and open to the public. Attendees are asked to bring a bag lunch. Everyone is invited to stay for the monthly volunteer meeting afterward Abraham’s presentation.
