A group of 12 Homestead Hikers and guests ranging in age from teenagers to seniors led by Norma Bozenmayer spent a beautiful Sunday afternoon on July 10 hiking to four waterfalls in Hanging Rock State Park, Danbury N.C.
They started by descending hundreds of steps to admire Hidden Falls and then Window Falls. They then climbed back up and continued the adventure with a short walk to Upper Cascades. Cars were then driven to another trail head where again they descended many steps to Lower Cascades. The total hike distance was about 3.1 miles.
The scenery, weather and company were wonderful and many of the hikers plan on visiting the park and viewing the waterfalls during other seasons. Some of the hikers planned on hiking to the fifth waterfall in the park and then purchasing the five waterfall patch at the visitor center.
Hanging Rock State Park has 18 miles of well maintained trails rated easy to strenuous so there is something for everyone. It is a great place to visit any time of year and it is free.
