There is no better place to be this holiday season than in your own hometown, and no better way to get in the spirit of the season than by participating in some of the many events scheduled for the 5th annual Hometown Christmas.
The Christmas season officially kicks off on Main Street in Stuart on Friday, December 3, with Hometown Christmas.
The “Grand Illumination” tree lighting ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. in front of the courthouse, along with other festivities.
Merchants on Main Street are encouraged to extend their Friday hours until 8 p.m. to allow shoppers plenty of time to take care of their holiday shopping.
Hometown Christmas continues Saturday, December 4, with a day jam-packed with holiday celebrations and plenty more shopping opportunities, including:
- Mistletoe Market at the Stuart Farmers’ Market (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.).
- Stuart Elementary School’s “Winter Blender” hosted by Stuart Elementary PTO (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.).
- Patrick County Library children’s activities.
- Passport to the Holidays – This year, Passports will be available to patrons at participating merchants and the Chamber office beginning with “Small Business Saturday” on November 27.
Participating merchants are asked to stamp each Passport presented by patrons beginning November 27 through December 4. All Passports will be submitted to the Chamber office by participating patrons on Saturday, December 4, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to be entered into a drawing.
- The 49th annual Christmas Parade will be Saturday, December 4th (2 until 4 p.m.). One Family Productions is the parade organizer this year.
- Opening of Crossroads: Change in Rural America – A Museum on Main Street exhibition organized by the Smithsonian Institution (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) at the Creative Arts Center, 334 Patrick Avenue, Stuart.
This would be a perfect time for patrons to experience the simple life of Patrick County by shopping locally, supporting community and joining in the festivities of the season.
Patrick County’s Hometown Christmas weekend is a joint community outreach service of local merchants, Patrick County Tourism, Patrick County Chamber of Commerce, Reynolds Homestead, One Family Productions, Town of Stuart, and the Patrick County Library.
