Six students from Hardin Reynolds Memorial School traveled to Orlando, Fla., to participate at the 2017 Junior Beta National Convention.
Three students participated in Visual Arts competitions: Connor Campbell, pastels; Alainah Harbour, sculpture; and Mia Stowe, fiber arts. Mia Stowe and Kursten Hylton participated in Spotlight Your Club.
Alainah Harbour, Columbia Haycraft and Kursten Hylton participated in Reimagine * Recreate * Recycle. The girls had to create a wearable costume of a Disney character that was showcased at the General Session. The girls collected Dollar General shopping bags with the help of folks in the community to create Bell’s dress.
Connor and Colin Campbell participated in Site Up. They had to develop and produce a website. The task was to create an interactive, virtual introduction to National Beta which was accessible from one single web address. They had to include: a creative and effective infographic to demonstrate the scope and range of National Beta, a visual storytelling of Beta’s history, three videos showcasing the 2017 National Convention, testimonies of current members, explanations of the four pillars: Achievement, Character, Leadership and Service, and all National Beta social media outlets, addresses, handles and official hash tags.
The team of two finished in the top 10.
HRMS officials and Junior Beta sponsors are proud of the students who represented the school and county.
