James A. F. Anderson

James A. F. Anderson, age 79, of Imlay City, Michigan died Friday, February 27, 2026 at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital.   James  Anderson was born June 11, 1946 in Stuart, Virginia. He is the son of the late Herbert and the late Lucy (Thomas) Anderson.  He grew up in Stuart, Virginia and graduated from Stuart High School.  James attended college in Virginia.  James served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and later again during  Desert Shield in Kuwait.  He married Suzanne Kay Byers on August 9, 1969 in Auburn Heights, Michigan.  They raised their family in Oxford, MI before moving to the  Imlay City area in 1991.

He worked first for Grand Trunk Railroad; James then studied for his L.P.N. and worked at Oakdale in Lapeer; he then took at job at General Motors in Pontiac.   At  General Motors, James worked in the  Pontiac Factories as a Master Electrician. He was a member of the Imlay City Veterans of Foreign Wars.

James  is survived by:  his loving wife of 56 years, Suzanne Anderson of Imlay City; granddaughter, Katrina (Jordan) Morrow of Imlay City, MI;  his great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Elowen; nephew, Paul (Katrinka) Davis; and his niece, Teresa (Wes) Queen.

He is preceded in death by: his son, Matthew James Jackson Anderson; daughter, Regina Anderson; his brother, Gary Anderson; sister, Judy Davis; his parents, Herbert  and  Lucy Anderson; and his parents-in-law, Jack  and  June Byers.

Funeral services (a Veteran’s Final Salute)  will be held 1:00 pm, Wednesday, March 4, 2026  at the  Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI.  Burial will follow in Imlay Township Cemetery.

The family will be available for visitation 11 am-1 pm Wednesday, March 4th at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.  Please be sure to sign our on-line register book at  www.muirbrothersfh.com  to share your memories and condolences with the Anderson family.
