obit-nowlin-james-donaldJames Donald Nowlin, age 74, of Patrick Springs, departed this life on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
He was born in Patrick Springs on February 22, 1942 and was a son of the late Samuel Thomas and Mable Redd Nowlin. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Sam Thomas Nowlin Jr.
Donald had formerly worked for the Town of Stuart as a maintenance worker. He enjoyed hunting, classic cars, woodworking, masonry, and gardening. He was a faithful member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a trustee. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Marjorie Staples Nowlin of the home; two daughters, Chevondia Nowlin of the home and Tammy Graham (Milas) of Max Meadows; four sons, Donald (Wimp) Nowlin (fiancée, Summer) of Stuart, James (Rod) Nowlin (Michelle) of Newark, N.J., Ernie Nowlin (fiancée, Natasha) of Patrick Springs, Travis Nowlin (Christina) of Hampton; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Shirley Redd, Margaret Dodson, Nancy Covington (Willie), all of Patrick Springs, and Carmen Nowlin of Stuart; one sister-in-law, Judy Nowlin of Mount Vernon, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with the Rev. Doug Scales officiating. Burial will follow in the Nowlin Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
