obit Shelor, James RJames Randolph Shelor, age 78, of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C.
He was born in Meadows of Dan on July 30, 1937, and was a son of the late Jesse Judson Shelor and Clarice Blackard Shelor. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Shelor and Paul Shelor; and two sisters, Lucille Shelor Shough and Mary Elizabeth Shelor Wood.
He retired as vice president of Crestar Bank after 35 years in banking. He was a founding member and deacon of Grace Baptist Church. He also served with the Gideons for over 20 years.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Glenna Clay Shelor of the home; three children, Amy Kathryn Shelor of Meadows of Dan, Melinda Shelor Burchard and husband Jonathan of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Clay Shelor and wife Pamela of Cary, N.C.; ten grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Clark, Sarah Kathryn Clark, John Owen Burchard, Rachel Elizabeth Freed and husband Matthew, David Carlton Burchard, Noah Clay Burchard and wife Jenna, Morgan Rose Shelor, Dayne Owen Shelor, Charis Leone Shelor, Jamie Renee Shelor; two great-grandchildren, Sonya Jpusa Freed and Maple Eyre Freed; one sister, Alda Irma Shelor Stanley of Stuart; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Elkins officiating. Burial was in Meadows of Dan Baptist Church cemetery.
