Ms. Jane Elizabeth Phillips Blackwell, 72, of High Point, N.C., passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
A memorial service was held at Wesley Memorial United Church in High Point, N.C., on May 14, 2019. Family and friends gathered at the church to share memories of a wonderful woman who was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished.
Jane’s loving parents were Burton and Eva Phillips of Vesta. She attended Meadows of Dan School, after which she received her degree from High Point University.
She was employed as marketing director for High Point Bank and Trust Company. In 2006, she was named the Sheila Pigman/YWCA Business Woman of the Year.
She was known in High Point as someone who gave of herself selflessly. She had a passion for the arts and received the High Point Area Arts Council Volunteer of the Year Award. She was also a recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award from the High Point Chamber of Commerce.
She showed her commitment to help the needy by supporting Open Door Ministries, Habitat for Humanity, Community in Schools, her church and many business associations.
Jane enjoyed traveling and visiting new places. She never met a stranger and loved being with people. She enjoyed good conversation and made all who knew her feel special.
Left to cherish the memories of a life lived to the fullest are her older brother, Larkin Phillips and wife Louann, and her younger brother Douglas Phillips and wife Jewel. Jane was proud of her nephew Wayne Phillips; great-nephew Trenton Phillip; and of her nieces Lynn Phillips, Brittany Lovelady, and Brandy Baity.
