Janice Terry Shively, 71, of Bassett, died Saturday, November 12, 2016, at her residence.
She was born in Patrick County on November 21, 1944 and was a daughter of the late George Camden Garfield Terry and Effie Martin Terry.
She was a 1963 graduate of Bassett High School and retired from Martinsville/Henry County Department of Social Services where she was a senior eligibility worker. She loved working in her flower garden and walking on the Philpott Trail.
She is survived by her husband. Duel F. Shively of the residence; one son, Barry F. Shively of Bassett; two sisters, Joyce T. Merrix of Bassett and Myra T. Pavlick of Potomac, Md.; and one granddaughter.
The funeral service was held Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Jeff Rhea officiating. Burial was at Roselawn Burial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 730 East Church Street, Suite 13, Martinsville, VA 24112.
