The portrait of Gen. J.E.B. Stuart, which was removed from the Patrick County Courtroom last year and placed in the Patrick County Veterans’ Memorial Building earlier this year, was “unveiled” to an appreciative group Saturday morning. Dan River District Supervisor Roger Hayden spearheaded the move to have the portrait set in a beautiful frame and installed on the Wall of Honor where other Patrick veterans of all wars are recognized. Participants in the ceremony included Hayden, historian Desmond Kendrick, Wayne Jones, Del. Charles Poindexter, and Shirley Keene, president of the J.E.B. Stuart Birthplace Preservation Trust. Pictured with the portrait are Hayden, Ronnie Haynes, Civil War reenactor, and another reenactor. (Photo by Debbie Spencer)
