The Jump Start QuickStart Tennis program has now equipped three of the six elementary schools in Patrick County—Patrick Springs Primary, Stuart Elementary and Woolwine Elementary.
The program has also received a grant from the Martinsville Area Community Foundation to start its preschool tennis and nutrition immersion format—BrightSTARS—Tennis for Me! at Meadows of Dan and Patrick Springs next year and hope to incorporate it in three more schools in the future.
Organizers still need to raise funds to equip the physical education classes at Blue Ridge, Hardin Reynolds Memorial and Meadows of Dan and need support from the community. It will cost $780 each for Blue Ridge and Meadows of Dan schools, which are K-7 schools, and $680 for Hardin Reynolds, which is 4-7. Any amount would be appreciated and put to very good use for the kids in Patrick County.
“We have received our tennis equipment at Woolwine Elementary,” said Annette Brown. “The students and staff are very excited to receive this. Patrick Springs Primary School was nice and let us borrow theirs at the beginning of school, so many of our students have already been introduced to the program. We are very appreciative about receiving our own set and look forward to using it.”
Anyone interested in helping provide the equipment should contact the school to find out how to make donations.
