The Patrick County High School Lady Cougar JV softball team traveled to Halifax last Wednesday and defeated the JV Lady Comets 7-6.
“This was a big win and an entire team effort,” said Coach Megan Conner.
Leading hitters were Danielle King, Kansas Cutchins, Jenna King, and Erin Keith.
“All girls on the team hit well,” Conner added.
The Lady Cougars were down 6-5 in the top of the seventh inning when Erin Keith hit in Kansas Cutchins on a hit to right field, and Jenna King hit in Danielle King to score two runs to put team ahead to win with a score 7-6.
“We held them in the bottom of the seventh to get the win,” said Coach
Katherine Beckett was the winning pitcher.
The Lady Cougar JVs are 2-0 for the season so far.
They hosted George Washington of Danville Tuesday afternoon and travel to Floyd today (Wednesday) and host Tunstall Friday.
