The Patrick County High School junior varsity Lady Cougar basketball team “gutted out a win” against the Lady Bengals last Wednesday at Bassett. The score was 43-27.
According to Coach Donnie Rakes, it was not a pretty game. “We had to battle every possession. They played hard, a very physical game, but we didn’t back down,” he added.
“We are maturing as a team—I am proud of their toughness,” he said. “It was our sixth win in a row.”.
Sierra Hubbard scored 14 points; Abby Dillon and Logan McGhee each added six.
The Lady Cougars played at Tunstall Tuesday. They will be at home against Blacksburg tonight (Wednesday) and travel to George Washington of Danville Friday.
