Cathy Adams, extended family, friends and other organizers are keeping the dream alive while putting the finishing touches on the 16th annual Ken Adams Memorial Patrick County Toy Run.
The ride will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Fairystone Volunteer Fire Department.
Registration starts at 11:30 a.m. The entry fee is $10.
Proceeds raised during the event are earmarked to benefit youngsters in Patrick County’s Christmas Cheer program.
The ride is not limited to motorcycles, according to organizers. Vehicles of any type are welcome.
Participants will leave the fire department at 1 p.m.
Adams’ husband, Ken Adams, helped start the project in 2003 – the same year he was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer.
Ken Adams succumbed to the illness in 2006, but his dream of helping families and children at Christmas remains intact.
Each year, Cathy Adams partners with extended family, friends and others to organize and hold the ride. The ride last year raised $4,600 for Patrick County Christmas Cheer, Cathy Adams said.
The event also includes a 50/50 drawing, door prizes and hot dogs.
The event is supported by the Red Knights Motorcycle Club Chapter 11, Ross-Harbour United Methodist Church, the Patrick County Christmas Cheer program and the Fairystone Volunteer Fire Department.
