C. Clayton Kendrick Jr. emerged victorious in the Firehouse Primary held Saturday in the Mayo River District.
Kendrick ran away with the race, netting 138 votes to the 23 cast for his challenger Michael Gravely.
Wren Williams, chairman of the GOP committee, estimated that 6.6 percent of the unofficial total of 2,431 registered voters in the district participated in the primary.
Amy Walker, who lives in the Mayo River District and is unopposed in her bid for the district seat on the Patrick County School Board, tallied the votes cast in the primary, Williams said.
Crystal Harris, who represents the Smith River District on the Board of Supervisors, certified them, Williams said. He added that the number of registration forms collected at the primary matched the number of ballots cast.
Kendrick now will face incumbent Lock Boyce for the Mayo River District seat on the Patrick County Board of Supervisors in the November election.
