The 36th annual Kibler Valley River Run will be held July 28, on the Dan River near Claudville.
Registration begins at approximately 8:30 a.m. Racing begins between 11:30 a.m. and noon.
Rustic camping is available for participants.
All participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt. T-shirts also will be for sale to the general public. Sponsored and operated by the Red Bank Ruritan Club on Red Bank School Road, the event includes various canoe and kayak events and is an excellent event for water sports fans and photographers.
All proceeds from the event go to the Red Bank Ruritan Club and help the club address community needs.
The Patrick County Tourism Department is among the sponsors of the event as are many businesses. The event would not be possible without cooperation of landowners and volunteers.
The Pinnacles Hydro Plant and City of Danville will provide the water flow.
From Mt. Airy, N.C., follow Virginia/NC 103 to Claudville and turn left on Virginia 773 (Ararat Highway), then turn onto Kibler Valley Road and travel approximately 4.2 miles. Destination is on the right.
From Stuart, follow Virginia 8 South, and turn on Virginia 103. In Claudville, turn on Virginia 773 (Ararat Highway), then turn on Kibler Valley Road and go approximately 4.2 miles on the right.
Concessions that include hamburgers and hot dogs will be available.
