The Patrick County High School Lady Cougar soccer team had two tough battles last week, losing both matches by scores of 1-0.
In last Tuesday’s match, the Lady Cougars and Tunstall Lady Trojans battled to a 0-0 tie until the last 15 seconds of the contest when a Tunstall shot found the back of the net to take the win 1-0
“I thought we played well. We did a great job of holding them scoreless for the majority of the game,” said Coach Sandra Rakes. “We got off several shots but weren’t able to find the back of the net.”
In Friday’s match against the Lady Falcons of Abingdon, the score was also 1-0 in favor of the Lady Falcons.
Abingdon scored off a direct kick after a foul about midway through the first half.
“We outshot them but everything seemed to go wide of the goal or just miss by a few inches,” Rakes said. “I thought we did a great job moving the ball to the goal. Both defense and offense worked well together to keep the ball moving down the field.”
