Patrick County girls fall to 6-5 as Magna Vista improves to 10-1 after defeating the Lady Cougars Friday in Patrick County. The Cougars gave up a four point lead at the half and ended up losing 50 to 43.
The Lady Cougars were up the entire first half but Magna Vista came out in the third quarter with some new found intensity. The Warriors erased the four point deficit at the beginning of the third with a 9-0 run. Magna Vista forced 11 turnovers in the quarter 7 of them being Magna Vista steals. The Warriors got up 41-34 at the end of the third and held on to that lead for the remainder of the game.
Sierra Hubbard led the way for the Cougars scoring 23 points for the night until she fouled out in the fourth quarter allowing the Warriors to push their lead without her on the floor. Missy Hazard and Abigail Epperson both had 6 points for the Lady Cougars. Gracelyn Hubbard (4), Jadyn Lewis (2) and Abby Dillon (2) combined for the remainder of Patrick County’s points.
Magna Vista Sophomore TaNaisha Hairston had a game-high 29 points. Senior Ja’liah Wilson almost came away with a triple double scoring 14 points, swiping 11 steals and grabbing down 7 rebounds for the night.
