Thursday’s game at home against Bassett was one of this season’s most exciting. The Lady Cougars won in four sets, 25-17, 26-24, 31-33 and 31-29.
Abby Hutchens had 28 kills in the game and 17 digs. Morgan Biggs had seven kills, two aces and two blocks. Sydney Biggs had seven kills, 10 digs and two aces while Melanie Roberson had seven kills, two aces and two blocks.
“I’m really amazed at the season we are having,” said Coach Heidi Moore. “The ladies are performing well and winning close sets,” she added. “They want to become better volleyball players and push each other to do the same.”
“We are getting ready for the last fourth of the season. The girls have played everyone and our goal is to improve each game and play better than we did against those teams the first time we played them,” she said.
As for Abby Hutchens’ 1000th kill shot last week, Moore is extremely happy for her. ”She absolutely deserves all the recognition she is receiving for her 1000th kill. She is an amazing young lady and player,” Moore said. “Her work ethic helped her reach her goal; I am so excited for her to reach this milestone.”
This week the Lady Cougars played at George Washington of Danville Tuesday night. They will host Halifax Thursday night with the varsity match starting at 7 p.m.
