The final regular season game for the Patrick County High School Lady Cougars ended in a win for the team, beating Tunstall 49-45. Wednesday night, they lost to Hidden Valley 73-37.
In Wednesday’s home game against Hidden Valley, the Lady Titans took an early lead of 23-12 in the first quarter. The Lady Titan defense all but shut down the Patrick County offense in the second quarter, allowing the Lady Cougars only three points in the quarter.
Hidden Valley maintained its domination in the second half outscoring the Lady Cougars 34-22 to take the win 73-37.
Kaleigh Griffith scored 16 points, including eight rebounds. Melanie Roberson scored six points. Sarah Wagner and Z Cole each had five rebounds.
In Thursday’s game at Tunstall, Patrick County led 13-9 after the opening quarter. They maintained the lead 23-20 at the half. Consistent offense and defense kept the Lady Cougars on top for the second half, giving them the 49-45 win.
Kaleigh Griffith was leading scorer again with 10 points and seven rebounds. Autumn Hubbard scored eight points and had seven rebounds. Melanie Roberson scored six.
This was the last regular season game for the Lady Cougars. Conference 32 tournament action was slated to begin this week, but schedules had not been finalized at press time due to inclement weather.
