The Lady Cougar volleyball team of Patrick County High school split two games last week, falling to Floyd County in four sets and beating North Stokes in three sets.
In last Tuesday’s match at Floyd, the scores were 25-20, 13-25, 17-25, 8-25.
Morgan Biggs and Savannah Roberts had six kills. Ashlee Mesot had 12 assists, three aces, eight digs.
Thursday at North Stokes, the Lady Cougars won 25-20, 25-23, 25-22.
Izzy Beasley had 12 kills and two blocks. Ashlee Mesot had 19 assists and four aces. Jenna King had 16 digs and two aces.
“We have played some tough teams to begin our 2017 campaign,” said Coach Heidi Moore. “I believe that all of these games will help us to become a better team,” she added.
“The team is working extremely hard at practice. Defense is our strong suit right now,” Moore said. “We are seeing improvement in our offense with each game that we play,” she said.
“The sky is the limit with this team. As long as they keep working and continue to build a bond between teammates, we will have an amazing season,” Moore said.
“We will continue to work on all aspects of the game with an emphasis on serving and running our offense the way we want to each time we have the ball,” said Moore.
“This a great group of young ladies to coach,” she added.
The Cougar volleyball teams play at Halifax County Thursday night.
