The Lady Cougars Varsity Softball team took a 5-4 win as they hosted Bassett on Tuesday.
Katherine Beckett went the distance in the circle throwing all seven innings, striking out five, walking one batter, one allowing seven hits.
At the plate the Lady Cougars bats were a little quiet.
Jadyn Lewis went 2-3, Montana Moorefield and Mackenzie Belcher each scratched one hit a piece. Moorefield had a 2 RBI single and Belcher had a triple.
Erin Keith went to the plate three times but did not record an at-bat. Keith had an RBI sacrifice fly and an RBI sacrifice bunt and reached first base by a walk. The final RBI came from a solo home run by Abigail Epperson.
Coach Nikki Hall said, “Our defense wasn’t as solid as we would like, but we managed to string a few hits together to get in some runs.
We had some girls tonight produce for us at the plate at the right time. We will take some issues from tonight’s game and work on things in practice.”
