The Patrick County High School’s Lady Cougars basketball team traveled to Floyd County last Tuesday and won a defensive struggle with a final tally of 41-34.
The team trailed by 6 points at halftime with a score of 22-16, but the Cougars rallied to hold the Buffaloes just 12 points in the 2nd half and came back to win the game.
Sierra Hubbard scored a team high 15 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead the comeback. Hannah Robeson had 8 points and 8 rebounds. Lindsey Marshall added 7 points, 7 rebounds, and led the team in assists, with 5.
It was a “good win for the girls” especially considering the “intimidating environment,” said Donny Rakes, head coach. He said the seniors’ leadership led to the comeback in the 2nd half.
The team “didn’t panic” under the pressure, Rakes said.
The Lady Cougars round out the season with 4-0.
