Landmark residents, guests, and staff celebrated March birthdays and Saint Patrick’s Day Friday, March 17, with a party. Vernon Harris and Shelly Roberts entertained everyone as they enjoyed green birthday cake, green ice cream, and green punch.
Birthday gifts were donated by team member Lakin Rogers, executive assistant. Residents and staff were encouraged to wear green to the party.
New residents were welcomed to The Landmark Center, March 16. Refreshments were provided by Landmark Catering and the dietary staff.
The Landmark Activity Department is pleased to welcome two new team members to the Activity staff. Jill Hairston, LPN and memory care coordinator, and Micha Mordue, activity assistant. We are looking forward to working with you.
March 19-25 was American Chocolate Week and throughout the week residents were treated to brownies, chocolate ice cream, chocolate pound cake, chocolate milk shakes, chocolate cookies, chocolate covered raisins, and M&Ms. Thank you to all of the residents who participated in these activities.
Residents traveled to Mount Airy, N.C., on March 21, and enjoyed pizza for lunch. March 23, the destination was Ridgeway. Other bus trips included lunch at the local Mexican restaurant March 28, and local shopping March 30. Cosmetology students from Patrick County High School provided manicures for Landmark residents March 28. Residents always look forward to visiting with the students each month.
Evening entertainment at The Landmark Center has included the Chords of Faith and Sue Nester.

Students from the Patrick Springs STEP program will be joining us on April 6 at 10 a.m. for an Easter Egg Hunt in the Landmark courtyard. After dinner from 7-8 p.m. in the living room, residents will be entertained by the Community Easter Choir and the group, Two Old Two Young.

Join us for the next “Hold Your Hand” Family Education Series, meeting on April 13 from 6-7 p.m. at The Landmark Center, in the multipurpose room. This series will cover a variety of topics which affects families and caregivers who are currently caring for a senior citizen.

The community is invited to join Blue Ridge Therapy Connection and The Landmark Center for the annual Community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 15, from 10 a.m. until noon. The Landmark Center is hosting a Practical Strategies in Dementia Care Workshop on Thursday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Doors will open at 8 a.m. Throughout the day there will be a number of guest speakers discussing a variety of topics.
