Landmark residents celebrated Thanksgiving Day with family and friends. Many gathered in the living room to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, continuing a family tradition.
We have so much to be thankful for at The Landmark Center. This morning, as I work on this article in the arts and crafts room, listening to the group One Accord singing beautiful hymns and Christmas carols, I am very thankful for the freedom of worship and the peace it brings to the residents. Thank you to all our volunteers who share their time and talents throughout the year, here at The Landmark Center.
Residents and staff are already busy with preparations to celebrate Christmas and the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Christmas trees are dressed in bright colors and shining lights, the mantels are adorned with greenery, and Landmark residents participated in the local Christmas parade.
Congratulations to those who created the Landmark float for the parade, which won the Grand Marshal Award.
December 9, residents were joined by family members to celebrate an old fashioned Christmas dinner. In addition, to a delicious meal shared together, they relaxed to music provided by Judy and Ralph.
Thank you to Landmark Catering and the dietary staff for preparing the delicious meal and to everyone who helped make this time together possible.
Jim and Ellen Saunders, volunteers, led the game, “Name That Tune,” on November 30. Residents compete to see who can guess the name of the tune first and receive a prize. This activity is always a lot of fun.
Bus trips have included a ride-about to Woolwine on November 28, and local shopping on the 30th and December 7. Landmark residents traveled to Mount Airy, N.C., on December 5 and enjoyed pizza for lunch. Residents from the Memory Care Neighborhood viewed the Christmas lights on a ride-about December 6.
Mike Hall entertained the residents after dinner on December 1. Saturday morning, Pastor Dave Boarman led the residents in worship. After lunch, residents welcomed friends from Harvest Worship Center for singing, scripture reading, and a time of prayer.
Sunday afternoon, carolers from the Risen Lord Catholic Church went room to room and sang traditional Christmas carols to the residents. Monday evening The Over The Hill Gang provided music for the monthly square dance.
The monthly Operation Homefront meeting was held at The Landmark Center December 5. The community is invited to join the Landmark residents the first Tuesday of each month from 9 to 10 a.m. If you served in the Armed Forces, join us to connect, support, and recognize our local heroes.
