Lane Eden Hubbard

Mr. Lane Eden Hubbard, age 77 of Meadows of Dan, Virginia, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2025, surrounded by his family at his home.

He was born in Patrick County on October 12, 1948, to the late Clayton Eugene Hubbard and Eileen Quesinberry Hubbard. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hubbard was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jerry Keith Cabaniss. He served as an Electronic Warfare Technician while serving in the United States Navy from 1969 – 1976 and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology. He retired from Patrick & Henry Community College where he was a talented and respected Electronics instructor for 23 years.

In addition to being a devoted husband and loving father, Lane was a kind man who was always willing to help a neighbor in need. He was a talented trout fisherman and an avid farmer for many years. Lane had a passion for classic Ford Mustangs. Not only did he enjoy driving classic cars, but he also loved restoring them, as well as restoring many antique Ford tractors and lawn tractors after his retirement.  He was a well-respected and loved member of the Meadows of Dan community.

Mr. Hubbard is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Terry Hubbard of the home; two sons, Alan Hubbard (Crystal)  of Ridgeway, and Ethan Hubbard of Meadows of Dan; a daughter, Beth Hubbard Powell of Willis; three grandchildren, Olivia Shelor, Alaina Hubbard, and Zachary Powell; and three siblings, Judy Thompson (Ronnie) of Hardy, Dan Hubbard (Bea) of Floyd and Jerri England (Ed) of Meadows of Dan.

Funeral services for Mr. Hubbard will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Conners View Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Tim McGrady and Pastor Don Reynolds officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Conners View Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Barry Fain, 459 Woodland Drive, Stuart, Virginia 24171, or to Mountain Valley Hospice, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, North Carolina 27017. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
