Brooke Lawson and Dustin Cooper were united in marriage on Saturday, June 3 at six o’clock in the evening at Mountain Union Chapel of the Explore Park in Roanoke. The ceremony was officiated by the bride’s stepfather, Dr. Carl Hannah.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Mist on the Mountain, a Celtic ensemble from Blacksburg. The ceremony reading was performed by Bailli Boyd, cousin of the bride.
The ceremony was designed in an Irish-Appalachian theme, and was complimented by lavender, baby’s breath, bells of Ireland and thistle. The bride is the daughter of Larry Lawson of Draper and Shirley Huffman Hannah of Blacksburg. She is the granddaughter of the late Robert and Hazel Huffman, who lived in southwest Virginia. and Morris Lawson; in attendance was Joan Puckett Lawson of Draper. The bridegroom is the son of Michael and Beverly Cooper of Stuart. He is the grandson of the late Aaron Wood and Douglas and Charlotte Cooper, who lived in Stuart; in attendance was Charlotte Nowlin Wood of Stuart.Abby Nicolo and Kelly Holzer, served as matrons of honor. Carly Hannah, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Holly O’Dell, cousin of the bride, Kellie Hodges, Stephanie Goff, Amy Malcolm, Francesca Sperberg, and Mary Criner.The fairy tribe was led by Tara Ashman, sister of the bride, and Bethany Rice. The tribe included Zennalee Nicolo, Adalee Hughes, Ember Ashman , niece of the bride; Deklyn Henry, cousin of the bride; and Gavin Rice.Brandon Hughes served as best man. Groomsmen included Matthew Dalton, Chris Shelor, Chad Hughes, and Andrew Terry. The bride’s parents hosted a cocktail hour, a food truck dinner and reception at the Explore Park. On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom’s parents hosted a pizza dinner at The Explore Park in Roanoke.
Following a honeymoon, the couple will reside in Franklin County. Brooke and Dustin thank their parents, family, and friends for the constant support and dedication they have so generously offered through the years.
