Ryan Lawson will seek the Peters Creek District seat on the Patrick County School Board.
He said he decided to run because of concerns about the budget and how it is impacting students and teachers.
Lawson is worried about how the economic situation of the county is affecting the school system. He would like to see the money used wisely to benefit the schools.
“I plan to take a calm approach and carefully evaluate every decision,” Lawson said, adding that he wants to make decisions that are best for everyone involved.
Lawson is from Patrick Springs and is a Patrick County High School Graduate. He has an associate’s degree from Patrick Henry Community College in administration of justice and currently works as a state trooper for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Lawson’s wife, Crystal, is a teacher at Stuart Elementary School. They have two children who attend Patrick Springs Primary School.
Lawson is currently running unopposed.
