Beautifully hand dyed, Indigo Shibori Scarves are truly works of art. Each scarf is individually dyed with a custom mixed navy color using a shibori dye technique.
Shibori is an ancient dye technique of binding so that part of the fabric resists dye to create a pattern.
On Saturday, June 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Reynolds Homestead, each participant will create 3 silk scarves to take home while learning basic shibori binding, stitching and clamping techniques to dye with natural indigo.
All materials are provided. Cost of the class is $60 per person. Those interested may call 276-694-7181 to register.
Instructor Jennifer Reis is an accomplished artist and instructor who has moved to this area. She has taught at the John C. Campbell Folk School and the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, among many other venues.
