Thank you Patrick County. Nineteen units of whole blood were collected with a goal of forty-one units. There were no double-red machines available at the blood drive, but it had a full complement of Red Cross staff. There were 23 presenters, with four donors deferred.
This month’s average wait-time, from “arrival to table,” was a mere 17 minutes. There was one first-time donor.
A reminder to all donors: after giving blood, the American Red Cross suggests all donors drink an extra four, 8-ounce glasses of liquids; avoid alcohol in the next 24 hours and do not do any heavy lifting or vigorous exercise for the rest of the day.
Thanks to ALL donors who took time out of their day to do their part to help others in need. Always remember, every donor counts and is gratefully appreciated. Every person who presents makes a difference!
Thank you to our devoted volunteers who work so hard to make this blood drive special. They were Patty Brunner, Linda Smith, Pauline Tatum, Jack Vestal, Betty Holt, Everett Rakes Judi Sanborn and our newest volunteer, Denise Cark.
Thank you, Stuart Rotary Club for sponsoring this month’s blood drive. Without our sponsors, it would just be another blood drive.
Next month’s scheduled sponsor is our own Susan’s Beauty Shop, a first-time sponsor, located in her home on Route 8.
July’s blood drive is back on the regular schedule of the second Tuesday of the month, July 10, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Please remember, someone needs blood every two seconds.
Give blood. Give life. Make a difference in your life as well as others in need.
Gene Stirewalt, Patrick County Blood Drive Coordinator
