Sometimes we take things for granted, and often those things should be recognized and appreciated. Our family would like to recognize the CCDF Volunteer Fire Department in Claudville.
Most of us wish we’d never have to call on the fire department, but if you do, you would be fortunate to have the CCDF fire department. In the last couple of months we have had the misfortune of lightning striking our cabin and an automobile fire. In both cases, we applaud the response of this fire department. They are professional, efficient and glad to serve this community.
We want to especially give a few details of the automobile fire. We own a 1948 Plymouth that has been restored. One of our family members was driving it, stopped, began to get out of the vehicle and heard a “pop,” and then saw flames coming out of the back. We had no cell phone signal and had to run to a neighbor to call 911. The fire department was there in less than five minutes.
Yes, the car was significantly damaged, but if the fire department had not responded as quickly as they did, the driver could have been injured, and the building where the car was parked would probably have been destroyed, as well as other cars that were there.
Please remember: this is a volunteer fire department. The volunteers are there serving the community—not for fame or money—but to make sure that the members of the community have a service that they can depend on. We can certainly depend on CCDF Volunteer Fire Department.
Consider supporting it with a donation; you never know when you might need them. Don’t take them for granted—thank them for their service to us.
Again, a BIG thank you to the CCDF volunteers. Thank you for being there!
Sincerely,
Doug, Gerry and Travis Ferry
