The following request for information have been received by the Patrick County Genealogy Society.
- Patrick County resident Angela Hylton Hill is looking for information on her ancestor Rosebell/Rosabell Hylton.
Rosebell Hylton was born in 1848 or 1849 to Tabitha Hylton. Tabitha’s other children were John Hylton (by John Cobb), and Napoleon and Arminta (both by Samuel Gallimore).
No records have been found naming Rosebell’s father. Does anyone know who he may have been?
Tabitha and Rosebell are listed in the 1850 Patrick County Census as living in the Northern Division of Patrick County with Nancy McGee and with Tabitha’s brother and sister, George Hylton and Elizabeth Ann. Elizabeth married a Harbour.
Tabitha and Rosebell moved to Greasy Creek in 1860. They moved to Indian Valley in Floyd County in 1870.
Tabitha Hylton was born in 1827 to John Hilton/Hylton and Lucy Hylton. Lucy’s parents were George Hylton (born in Montgomery County, now Floyd County, in 1763) and Tabitha Green. George Hylton and Tabitha Green were married in 1783 in Montgomery (now Floyd).
