Thank you Patrick County. Twenty-four units of whole blood and two units of double-reds, translating to twenty-eight units, were collected with a goal of thirty-nine units. There were two double-red machines available and a full complement of Red Cross staff.
This month’s average wait-time, from “arrival to table,” was a mere 21 minutes.
A reminder to all donors, after giving blood the American Red Cross suggests all donors drink an extra four, 8-ounce glasses of liquids, avoid alcohol in the next 24 hours and do not do any heavy lifting or vigorous exercise for the rest of the day.
Thanks to all donors who took time out of their day to do their part to help others in need. Always remember, every donor counts and is gratefully appreciated. Every person who presents makes a difference.
Thank you to our devoted volunteers who work so hard to make this blood drive special. They were Laura and Christine Citrano, Michele Boyd, Patty Brunner, Linda Smith, Pauline Tatum, our beloved Jesse Mae Vernon, Mary Lou Hall, Juanita Mitchell, Jack Vestal, Betty Holt and Everett Rakes.
Thank you, Keith Gunter of Roger’s Real Estate and Auction for sponsoring this month’s blood drive. Without our sponsors it would just be another blood drive.
Next month’s scheduled sponsor is our own Stuart Rotary Club, a second-year sponsor, where service to others is above self. They meet each month in the John D. Hooker Building.
FLASH: next month’s blood drive is scheduled on Tuesday, June 19, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There was a scheduling conflict on our regular second Tuesday. Please remember, for June ONLY, the blood drive will be the third Tuesday.
Give blood. Give life. Make a difference in your life as well as others in need.
Thank you again, Patrick County, for making the May blood drive a success!
Gene Stirewalt, Patrick County Blood Drive Coordinator
