Patrick County has lost a legend with the passing of Locke Boyce. He was a great vet and was an advocate not only for the people of Patrick County, but also for those who had no voice and sometimes no one to care for them, the animals.
He was a community activist and served as our Board of Supervisors as not only member but the chairman. He always did his best to keep the taxes at a reasonable rate and discouraged wasteful and unnecessary local government spending. One thing for certain, he was honest, truthful and not afraid to speak his mind on matters that may have been sensitive to others. But above all, he was a friend who you could talk to, and he always had a love and concern for your pets that he treated and cared for. Locke will be greatly missed by Patrick County and remembered for years to come.
