The second music event in a series of three held by the Patrick County Music Association (PCMA) will take place on Saturday, Nov. 13 at the Rotary Building in Stuart.
Doors to the event open at 5 p.m. and music starts at 6 p.m. in the facility, located at 264 Woodland Drive, Stuart. The music ends when people go home, or the band gets tired, according to Denny Alley, organizer of the event.
The Slaydon Family Band, accompanied by Charlie Chaney, will open the event. Kali Slaydon, mother, will perform on bass with her four children, Zeke, Mycah, Simeon, and Isaac, playing a various other instruments including guitar, banjo, and fiddle.
The featured band Harrison Ridge along with groups By Grace and Barry Collins & the Mud Flapps will also take the stage and perform for the rest of the night.
Alley, who also is president of the PCMA, said the October show which was the organization’s first after an 18-month hiatus, attracted around 170 people.
“I was tickled to death. I was expecting 35 or 40 people going the way everything else has been going,” he said.
Alley said the group is also preparing a series of shows for the first three months of 2022.
“We’ll probably have a fiddle fest in January, a mandolin fest in February, and a guitar fest in March,” he said, adding that since a lot of people play the same instrument, moving from one instrument to another will “give them all an equal chance to play.”
Admission to the event is a $5 donation at the door. Lawn chairs are encouraged, and masks are preferred. Concessions will be available for purchase.
Prizes like $25 gas cards will be awarded and a 50/50 drawing will be available.
