A Patrick Springs man was arrested Friday following an alleged altercation with his brother, according to Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith.
Larry Darnell Tatum, 69, was charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident. He is being held without bail in the Patrick County Jail.
The incident began when Master Deputy Matthew Rorrer responded to a 911 disturbance call at a residence on Providence Drive in Patrick Springs.
Upon arrival, Rorrer alleged that kerosene had been poured on Rickie Tatum, 64, one of the men at the scene. Rorrer alleged that attempts were made to ignite the kerosene.
Smith said those attempts were “unsuccessful, thankfully.”
Rickie Tatum was uninjured in the incident, according to the sheriff.
The investigation is continuing.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Patrick County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Austin or investigator Tennille Jessup at (276) 694-3161.
