Martha Campbell Honse, age 72, of Woolwine, died Monday, April 25, 2016, at Fairfax Hospital.
She was born in Pennsylvania on October 31, 1943 and was a daughter of the late John and Jessie Morgan Campbell. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Pyle.
She was a retired teacher, an educational diagnostician, director of special education at Pine Tree ISD in Texas, and retired from Highland School in Warrenton, where she was the head of lower school and a fourth grade teacher.
She served as temporary principal of Woolwine Elementary School and as a substitute teacher at Woolwine and Ferrum Elementary Schools on a regular basis.
She was a member of the Patrick County Retired Teachers Association, the Circle of Friends Book Club in Woolwine, The Eclectic Readers Book Club at the Rocky Mount Library, and the PCRTA Book Club at the Stuart Library.
Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Joel A. Honse Sr. of the home; one son, Joel A. Honse Jr. and wife Nancy of New Brighton, Pa.; one daughter, Kira C. Honse, Esq. of Lakeland, Fla.; step-granddaughter, Samantha Thomas of Johnstown, Pa.; step-grandsons, Matthew Barto and Joshua Barto of New Brighton; step-great-grandson, Noah Thomas; one brother, Larry Campbell and wife Jeanne of Monroeville, Pa.; several nieces and nephews; special friends/relatives, Jay and Betty Honse, along with many others too numerous to mention; canine child, Prissy; and granddog, Daisy.
All services were private.
