Mary Hodges Fain, 93, formerly of Martinsville, died Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Eden, N.C.

She was born June 17, 1923 in Patrick County and was a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Nannie Stovall Hodges. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Frank Fain in 2005, grandson, Roger “Bo” Young, great-grandson, Robert Jackson Dean, great-granddaughter, Kimberly Norris, five brothers, Ben, Kirby, Robert, Moore, and Heywood Hodges, and two sisters, Ima Willard, and Maggie DeHart.

She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, Martinsville Temple #23, Pythian Sisters, and was assistant manager of ladies’ apparel at K-Mart for many years.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas E. Fain of Martinsville, and Robert T. Fain of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Marie F. Dean of Eden, N.C., and Ellen F. Greer of Bassett; one sister, Lucy Lawson of Madison, N.C.; ten grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. in the Roselawn Chapel with the Rev. Tim Gearhart officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
