Mary Sue Lawson Overby, 82, of Lexington, SC, formerly of Stuart, VA, passed away on November 17, 2025.

Ms. Overby was born on December 19, 1942, in Stokes County, NC, to the late Samie and Luby Woods Lawson. She was a devoted mother and grandmother; known for the love and guidance she poured into her family. In her healthier days, she found joy in tending to her flowers, spending time with her cats and her late dog, Bo, and watching WWE SmackDown every Friday night.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Overby was preceded in death by her life partner, Thomas Lawless Jr.; two brothers, Charlie Lawson and Rufus Lawson; and three sisters, Margaret Holt, Bertha Campbell, and Helen Hylton.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Connie Martin (Gary) and Francis Morin (Dave); two sons, Ricky Overby (Bonnie) and Jerry Overby; six grandchildren, Melody Fain (Jeremiah), Micaela Wood (Stephen), Shayla Martin, David Knight Jr., Andrew Overby (Michelle), and Kyle Overby (Jenna); nine great-grandchildren, Gavin and Zander Fain, George Wood, Lance and Alyssa Overby, Easton Leonard, Ella Overby, and Faith and Noah Knight; and four sisters, Nina Hylton, Carlene Hylton, Linda Hughes, and Alice Hooker.

No formal service is planned.

“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
