Anderson & Associates Inc. engineering firm and Patrick County officials invite the public to a ribbon-cutting celebration for Phase II of the Mayo River Rail Trail on Friday, Nov. 18, at noon.
The ribbon cutting will be held at the end of the Phase I portion of the trail, near the parking lot off Commerce Street. Hot dogs will be served.
The Mayo River Rail Trail is being built along portions of the rail bed of the Danville & Western Railroad—also called the “Dick and Willie—that ran through Patrick County from 1884 to 1942. The two-mile multi-use trail will be completed in three phases.
