Moir Ruboyd Koger, 80, of A.L. Philpott Highway, Spencer, died Friday, May 13, 2016, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.
He was born in Patrick County on May 11, 1936, and was a son of the late Lee and Elvira Clanton Koger. He was also preceded in death by a son, Anthony Koger; three sisters, Florence Johnson, Hunter Clark and Eldean Scales; and three brothers, Eugene, Elbert and Sanford Koger.
He was retired from Fieldcrest Cannon after 40 years of service, was a retired Henry County Schools bus driver and owner of Koger Lock & Key.
He was a member of Mount Olive East Christian Church where he served as a deacon, property and trust ministry, stewardship and finance ministry and the Disciple Men Minsitry. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Homer Dillard Post # 78.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Martin Koger of the home; one son, Elder LaFonza Koger, of Martinsville; one brother, John Shirley Koger of Martinsville; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Mount Olive East Christian Church with Elder LaFonza Koger officiating. Burial will follow in Carver Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the church on hour prior to the funeral and will be at the home at other times.
Arrangements are by Hines Funeral Services.
