The Patrick County Christmas Parade was really nice with lots of entries. There was excitement in the air. I saw a lot of dogs all dressed up for Christmas, a tall man on stilts, the floats were really nice, and lots of horses. One horse put on quite a show—his owner must have trained him well. I’d say everyone worked hard.
I always enjoy going to Stuart United Methodist Church to their Christmas Bazaar with lots of nice things and delicious food. Everyone is so friendly.
Breakfast at Providence United Methodist Church this month was well attended and the food was delicious. I got to see a lot of my favorite people there.
It was good to hear one of my favorite people preach on Sunday at church and in Sunday School. Brother Mike McPeak is on my favorite person list. I always enjoy seeing him. God bless you.
Remember, if anyone needs clothes, the Jesus House is packed full of winter clothing, all in good shape. Donations keep coming in. Come and see.
Put my friend, Jerry Morgan, on your prayer list at this time. I’m praying for a miracle in his life.
“Miss Claudine” Wood up on the mountain enjoyed a visit from her son Harry of Tennessee, recently. He brought her lots of nice gifts and some nice clothing. It was a good day for her.
I stopped by my neighbor “Miss Vera” Plasters. She was having a good time joking and talking. She does great to be 102 years and has the greatest sense of humor.
It’s always good to see all the people on my soup kitchen route where I deliver food. I’ve added a few more to my route. You did a good job with the pintos. Good!
Jessica at Elizabeth’s Pizza tells me that she and her son have made me something for Christmas. I can hardly wait to see it.
We got some much needed rain in our area lately. We were getting really dry and dusty. Maybe the allergies will get better since we got some rain.
Thanks to Doug Hullet for the cases of canned goods he brought to the food ministry. God bless you and Gaynelle. The food came at a good time—we are running low on canned goods.
The Men’s Ministry cooked a good meal on Wednesday—tater tots, green beans, goulash and buns. Thank you all for working so hard and cooking free meals for everyone on Wednesday.
Heartfelt sympathy goes to the family of Chris Williams. Keep this family in our prayers.
It was nice to hear from David Woodall. He surely did enjoy the photo of Andy Griffin and his parents.
It’s a wrap! In pot, combine drained canned corn and black beans and enough salsa to make it saucy. Heat over low heat until hot; stir in strips of leftover chicken, heat through. Fill wraps or flour tortillas with mixture. Sprinkle with shredded cheese.
BUTTER PECAN
POUND CAKE
1 box Butter Pecan cake mix (Betty Crocker)
1 can coconut pecan frosting
3/4 cup oil
1 cup water
4 eggs
Mix all ingredients until fluffy. Grease and flour tube pan, then line pan with pecans. Pour cake mixture into pan and bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Yes! Frosting is mixed in the batter.
Food for thought
There are two kinds of people, those who do the work and those who take the credit. Try to be in the first group; there is less competition there.
