Old man winter sure paid us a visit with a cold blast. When the wind blows, it seems colder. Winter has just begun.
So sorry to hear of the death of Mr. Glenn Wood, a well known figure in the racing world.
A well known gentleman in our neighborhood recently celebrated his 94th birthday. Happy Birthday to Mr. Sam Handy and may many blessings come your way.
Enjoyed hearing Van Rowe on WHEO’s Patrick County Blessings the other Monday, and guess what? He had my age two years younger than I really am – makes me not feel my age which is really 85 years old.
“Miss” Claudine Wood really enjoyed the card that Mary Ann made and I sent her. She is displaying her cards so she can enjoy them. “Miss” Claudine really loves cards.
It was so nice to get a call from Beverly Woody the other night. I’m still enjoying the flowers from her and Mark in memory of Ronald and Chris’ birthdays. I’m taking good care of them. Stuart Florist really does a good job with flowers.
Hope “Miss” Dorothy is feeling better now. When I was there she had not been feeling well. I always enjoy my time with her. Also, it’s a joy to visit with Mrs. Foley.
I went by to see my neighbor, Vera Plasters, who is 103 years old. She was all wrapped up and watching TV. She is amazing!
Food for thought – When you can’t sleep, don’t count sheep; talk to the Lord. It works.
Potato Soup
6 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 large onion, chopped
1/2 cup milk
1/2 stick margarine
1 can cream of celery soup
1 – 8 ounce package cream cheese
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Cook onions and potatoes in water until tender. Add other ingredients and simmer for while, stirring occasionally to keep from sticking – ready to serve.
Helpful hint – marinating is easy if you use a plastic bag. The meat stays in the bag and it’s easy to turn and rearrange. Cleanup is easy – just toss in the bag.
