There always are a lot of good things happening in Patrick County.
On Saturday, Harvest Worship Center had a free car wash and free hotdogs. I
enjoyed going by. They sure did a good job with the car wash. Everyone was
so friendly. Got me a chair and fixed me a free hot dog and drink as I was
leaving. I had a nice conversation with a gentleman who recognized me from
the Mountain Top Party Line. Also, I met a lady who has had a kidney
transplant. She was very busy and was doing well – a blessing.
I really enjoyed The Henry County Enterprise. It was so informative. I was
touched by the story of James Helms and his baking as he waits for a kidney
transplant. He is a brave man. Please put him on your prayer list.
September is rolling along fast. Miss Claudine Wood is sad that the
hummingbirds will soon be leaving. Mine are eating a lot these days –
getting a lot of sugar energy for their trip.
Women’s ministry day was wonderful at church on Sunday. Brenda Share had a
really good message. The food was so good and I got a nice surprise when
Edie made me a cute doll to put plastic bags in. Then she told me she was
sending me more Amish books – and guess what? I got a big tote full. Edie
sure does brighten a lot of people’s lives, with surprises. Bless you.
When I went into Elizabeth’s Pizza for my weekly visit I was so happy to
Steve and Connie Greer. Connie seems to be doing well with her knee surgery.
I was saddened that Teresa Martin’s horse passed away. She had this horse
for 34 years. It was part of the family for a long time.
It was nice to see Stanley Fain the other Sunday. He has a load of those
nice mums he always gets.
Prayers for all the people affected by the storms.
The men’s ministry cooked a good supper – hamburgers and baked beans. I
needed a hamburger – that’s my comfort food when someone upsets me.
Food for thought – One word or a pleasing smile is often enough to raise up
saddened and wounded souls out there. Ephesians 4:32 says, “Be kind to one
another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another as God in Christ as forgiven
us.
